AC VS DC

Edison was afraid of losing royalties to his DC patents, so he made electric chairs to kill convicted NY murderer with AC power to show how dangerous Tesla's current is. Edison also electrocuted stray animals, such as an elephant, to show how dangerous AC was. During the Chicago World's Fair, General Electric bid over $550,000 to power the fair with DC, while Westinghouse had bid over $300,000 to power the fair with Tesla's AC. Niagara Falls gave Westinghouse the opportunity to use the Falls as a way to power the cities nearby with the AC motor. Buffalo was lit up by the Falls in 1896 and is continued to be powered by Westinghouse's power facility.

The War of the Currents was joined by many, not just including Edison and Tesla. Investors and innovators alike all took sides in the AC VS DC battle. The battle results would change the way the world is powered today and after. Some say the battle is still going on, as the world is powered by Tesla's AC, but most electronics, electric vehicles, and heat systems are controlled by DC. Tesla's company, Tesla Motors, has its cars powered by AC motors.
